It's almost impossible to go through life without borrowing money. Whether it's something as basic as using a credit card or a more complex situation like a home mortgage or a small business loan, our economic system revolves around borrowing. And to borrow successfully, you need to have good credit. By completing this badge, you will know what it takes to keep good credit and borrow money smartly, including how to pay back what you owe in time -- skills that will help you throughout life.

When you earn the Financial Literacy badge called Good Credit, you learn how to use money wisely so that you'll be seen as a good credit risk -- someone who will be responsible and meet her financial obligations. Now you can use those same values of honesty and responsibility as you run your cookie business. After all, practicing good business ethics means looking at both the business P&L (profit and loss) and the Girl Scout P&L (Promise and Law)!

They spend time and money researching new ideas. They also budget for development -- taking those new ideas, refining them, and bringing them to the market. (R&D could also mean changing a product to meet new customer needs.) When you earn this badge, you'll know how to use R&D for your cookie business plan.
