Barry Joseph turned me on to “Hyperlapse“, a free app from the makers of Instagram that enables you to easily create a timelapse video from your smartphone. Here’s a quick test of the app I made while walking around the main floor of the Cal Academy today. Really easy to use, and lots of potential for doing walk-throughs or overviews of a space.
Normally a timelapse video would have to be done using a fairly high end camera with some kind of stabilization mechanism and /or a software program to smooth out the inevitable jumpiness of compressing the time of a video. Hyperlapse makes a pretty neat timelapse without needing any of that.
