Leaving KQED, Looking for New Opportunities!

After six and half wonderful years, I was informed last week that my position at KQED was eliminated due to budget cuts and loss of federal funding. I loved my job and my team, so as you can imagine, I’m just gutted. But I’m also feeling hopeful and energized to explore where I can best use my gifts in this historic moment.

As Manager of Online Learning and Educator Certification, I led programs to support students with the media literacy skills they need to thrive in a media-saturated world. I managed the PBS Media Literacy Educator Certification and the online portal KQED Teach, which has over 10,000 users. I love designing courses, leading workshops, giving presentations, and building tools and resources to support teachers, librarians and students alike.

I’m seeking opportunities in:
• K-12 education
• media literacy
• digital citizenship
• AI for good.

I’m particularly drawn to mission-driven organizations based in the Bay Area (but open to remote, hybrid, or other possibilities.) My earliest start date is September 2.

If you know of roles or organizations that might be a good fit, I’d love to hear from you. Please message me at rikomatic at gmail.com.
